Firstly our
STAGE 1 MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP
This is for 4 to 5 year olds, and runs on
Tuesdays from 4.00pm to 5.30pm and on
Saturdays from 9.30am to 11am.
These classes are high energy and great fun in which the children learn the first stages of singing, dancing and acting.
In the singing classes they learn warm-up and action songs as well as traditional musical theatre or pop songs, the dance part is a mix of pop, musical theatre and street and in the acting part of the class they learn drama games, improvisation and the children may also take Introductory LAMDA Exams in Speaking of Verse and Prose, if they wish.
In addition once a year, the students will work towards a production which takes place at a local theatre.
These classes are very popular and we have very happy children enjoying learning how to perform, in a friendly and creative atmosphere. We encourage parents to come into the class to watch how their children are progressing throughout the term.
Students should wear loose clothing, trainers or dance shoes, and bring a named drink.
if performing is your
passion...
Our Musical Workshop classes are divided into five groups specifically designed to meet the demands of each age group.
Secondly our
STAGE 2 MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP
This slightly longer workshop is for
5 to 7 year olds and is held on
Tuesdays from 4pm to 6pm and on
Saturdays from 9.45am to 11.45am.
In these classes our learners have half hour classes in Acting, Singing and Dance plus a session in which they are encouraged to talk to the group about events and important things that are happening in their lives, which encourages them to engage with adults and their peer group.
Similar to the Stage 1, the Stage 2 students experience musical theatre, pop music, street dance and improvisation. They can also work on LAMDA Examinations should they wish.
Students should wear loose clothing, trainers or dance shoes, and bring a named drink and a snack.
Once a year the Stage 1 and Stage 2 Students come together to put on a show for family and friends in a local theatre..
Then on to our
STAGE 3 MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP
For 7 to 13 year olds is held on
Wednesdays from 4.30pm to 8pm and
Saturdays from 1.30pm to 5pm.
In these Workshops students learn a combination of Acting, Singing and Dance techniques and performance styles. The Workshops are divided into groups according to the learners ages.
In Drama the students work on improvisation, mime, script work, stage fighting, presentation and film acting and they learn the techniques needed to take an idea from initial concept through to performance.
In Dance the students start with a warm-up, stretch and stamina section, followed by learning a dance whether it be musical theatre, pop, street or partner work. Students work on co-ordination, flexibility and agility.
After a vocal warm-up the students learn a variety of music styles, which includes solo work, group work and harmony. Students work on developing vocal strength, range and technique.
Students should wear loose clothing, trainers or dance shoes, and bring a drink and a snack.
As with the Stage 1 and Stage 2 the Combined Theatre Workshop students perform one show each year plus various opportunities for parents to see the students work in smaller performances throughout the year.
Then on to
VALLÉ YOUTH THEATRE COMPANY
For 13 years plus is held on
Wednesdays from 4.30pm to 8pm
Most of the Vallé Youth Theatre Company have been at the Academy for many years, having been in our Musical Theatre Workshop, some even started at our Stage 1 classes!
During the year the Vallé Youth Theatre perform a musical or play in our Studio Theatre or a local venue.
A more intense course than the Musical Theatre Workshop, the students still work on Acting, Singing and Dance, but a more adult approach is expected and high standards are achieved.
Students should wear loose clothing, trainers or dance shoes, and bring drink and a snack.
This is the perfect training arena for those learners who are interested in going to Drama and Dance colleges. Many students leave here to move on to Drama School, College or University.
And finally our
VALLÉ ADULT MUSICAL THEATRE COMPANY (AMTC)
For 18 years plus is held on
Tuesdays from 7.15pm to 9.45pm
The Vallé Adult Musical Theatre Company was created for those who have grown too old for our regular classes, or who have discovered Musical Theatre later in life and want some training, or for those ex-students who may have returned from uni, or are now working, but have missed the fun and creativity that Musical Theatre can bring.
The classses are held on Tuesdays with each week consisting of 2 classes as follows:
Class 1 – 7.15pm-8.30pm (1 hour 15 mins)
Class 2 – 8.30pm-9.45pm (1 hour 15 mins)
The classes are either Acting, Singing or Dance taught on a rotation basis – for example one week might be Singing and Dance, the next week Dance and Acting, the following week would therefore be Acting and Singing.
These are no stress, no pressure classes, where you can act, sing and dance, have fun, make friends, keep fit and maybe even perform!
